High temperatures this week

The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber heat-health alert for the South of England, covering the whole of our network, until 21:00 on Sunday 12 July.

During this extended period of hot weather, please travel as normal but check your journeys before setting off.

Thursday 9 and Friday 10 July

We plan to run a normal service across most of our network, but a small number of services will be amended when temperatures are forecast to be at their highest on Thursday and Friday afternoon, as follows:

West of England

Between 1200 and 2000, customers travelling between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids will need to change trains at Basingstoke.

Running a shuttle service between Basingstoke and Exeter St David’s will help provide a more reliable and resilient service for customers on the West of England line.

Services between London Waterloo and Weymouth will also call additionally at Basingstoke to provide more connectivity.

Other minor service amendments may be necessary. Please plan ahead and check your journey using our online journey planner here.

Travel to coastal destinations

Trains and stations on the South Coast, including destinations like Bournemouth and Weymouth, are expected to be very busy.

Please plan ahead by checking return train times carefully and allowing extra time to board a service.

If you are travelling, remember to carry water with you and speak to a railway colleague if you feel unwell during your journey.
